Kim Kardashian Met Gala 2023: During a recent red carpet event in New York, Kim Kardashian donned a custom Schiaparelli ensemble that was dripping in pearls. The reality star explained that she wanted to incorporate the iconic Chanel pearls to make the outfit more “Karl” (a nod to the late Karl Lagerfeld, the former creative director of Chanel). Kardashian’s outfit included numerous strands of pearls that adorned a tan corset, as well as functioning as her full-length skirt.
While the outfit was highly praised as an elegant example of a trend that was popular among other guests at the event, some social media users drew comparisons to Kardashian’s near-naked photoshoot from the first season of her reality show “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.”
The Kardashian-Jenner family members have become regular attendees at the Met Gala in recent years. Kim Kardashian made headlines at last year’s event when she wore the same dress that Marilyn Monroe wore when she sang “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy in 1962. Her outfit for the 2021 Met Gala was no less daring, as she wore a “faceless” Balenciaga gown that fully covered her in black from head to toe.

Kim’s half-sisters, Kylie and Kendall Jenner, were also present at this year’s event. Kylie wore a custom Jean Paul Gaultier gown in bright red, which she paired with an oversized red and baby blue coat, both from designer Haider Ackermann.
Kendall Jenner, who had walked on the runways of Chanel under the direction of Karl Lagerfeld, shone in a black sequin leotard by Marc Jacobs with floor-length sleeves and knee-high boots. During a later interview on Vogue’s livestream, Jacobs expressed his admiration for Lagerfeld, saying that Lagerfeld had been his hero since he was 17 and first saw Chloe collections.
According to Jacobs, Lagerfeld was a true fashion designer who possessed unbridled creativity and ignored limitations. Jacobs’ comments reflect the immense impact Lagerfeld had on the fashion industry and his lasting influence on designers like himself.
